Dot NAME Domain Names

Started in 2001, the Dot NAME top-level domain extension is the only one meant for personal sites only. These domain names can be personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other labels people are popular by. At first, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you desired to secure john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed third-level domains remained online.
